Tierra del Fuego Visit Highlights:
The Southernmost city in the world, Ushuaia, offers the visitor a number of interesting attractions. Visit the Prison Museum in the city or take the Prisoner Train on a little tour of the outskirts of town. These sights are quite interesting and your informative guide will make your explorations very enjoyable.
Visit the historic Harberton Estancia and navigate the Beagle Channel to the main destination of the day: Gable Island. This island is the biggest and the most beautiful in the Beagle Channel and is almost totally virgin. Lunch is offered in a charming shelter after which there is an optional 2 hour walk around the island. The tour also includes a visit to Martillo Island, that has the only penguin rookery in the Beagle Channel.
Sea Lion Island:
Sea Lion is the most isolated of the Falkland Islands and today boasts a resident population of two people. More than forty species of birds, southern elephant seals and southern sea lions make this island their home. Four different species of penguins--including Gentoos, ckhoppers, Magellanic and occasionally the Macaroni--visit Sea Lion Island, and the beaches of the island are patrolled by Orca killer whales. All in all, Sea Lion Island is a spectacular wildlife experience.
Hiking and Sailing in Tierra del Fuego:
This excursion combines hiking on an undemanding path and sailing on a Zodiac along the Beagle Channel. In the morning, walk along a coastal path for three hours enjoying the amazing vegetation of the region. Then board a Zodiac vessel and cruise to Redonda Island where we enjoy lunch in a cabin with an excellent view of the Island. After lunch, go down to Lapataia Bay and see some of the most beautiful seabirds of the Argentinean South such as Albatrosses, Petrels, Snowy Sheath Bills, and Penguins.
Hiking and Canoeing Excursion:
Hike undemanding paths and canoe some of the most beautiful rivers and lagoons of the Tierra del Fuego National Park and the Beagle Channel on this excellent outdoor excursion. First, walk along a coastal path for three hours enjoying the amazing vegetation of the region and then enjoy lunch and go canoeing on Lake Roca to the Ovando River. When the Ovando River runs into Laguna Verde, one of the most beautiful panoramic spots in the National Park will be right in front of you.
Four Wheel Drive Adventure:
We will enjoy the magnificent views of Valleys Carbajal and Tierra Mayor and then reach Garibaldi Pass, where we will make our first panoramic stop. Then travel off-road for about one hour following the coast of Lake Fagnano, sometimes driving through the forest, and sometimes through streams.
